Óbidos is a small walled town north of Lisbon: white houses edged in blue and yellow, a castle, and a wall walk around the whole town (cm-obidos.pt). Each winter it becomes Óbidos Vila Natal; in 2026 the Christmas village runs from 27 November to 3 January 2027 (obidosvilanatal.pt).

Getting there

By car north of Lisbon, or by bus; check timetables before you travel.

The town

Walk the Rua Direita between the gates, climb onto the walls, and try ginjinha, the cherry liqueur, served in a chocolate cup.

Óbidos lies north of Lisbon: go by car or bus.

Christmas

Óbidos Vila Natal 2026 runs from 27 November 2026 to 3 January 2027 (obidosvilanatal.pt).

Our advice: the walls have no railings; keep children close.
